Lovely Time in the Hamptons

My two best friends, my Mom, and I, went to the Hamptons a few days ago. We spent some much-needed girls' time in a beautiful location. None of us had ever been to the Hamptons before, so we had a couple goals: cover as much ground as we could, visit a winery, and have a fabulous dinner. Here we are:

We got up early on Saturday morning, and were on the road by about 6 AM. I was surprised, there was no traffic, and the ride took about 2.5 hours. It was a crisp, beautiful fall day and the sunrise was spectacular.

Our first stop was in Westampton, where we grabbed a quick breakfast. Most of the stores were closed, which was fine. We just wandered a bit and took some photos.

Our next stop was our hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn Riverhead

I'm really impressed with this hotel. I contacted the manager, Ed Carroll, a few days before our stay, requesting an early check-in. Not only did he give me that, but he treated us to a complimentary wine tour. Checkin was a breeze, and we had about an hour to settle into our room before the tour.

The Hilton owns two shuttles for their tour. There were only about eight of us in our van, and another 6 or so in the other van. Plenty of space for everyone, and comfortable.

The day included three winery stops, tastings at each, and a boxed lunch. Such a fabulous day! Our favorite winery was Pindar, where we unanimously agreed that our favorite wine was their Winter White. In fact, stopped at the winery on our way home to pick up a couple more bottles! I also picked up a bottle of Port at Jason's Vineyards. They had lovely grounds, and there were some adorable sheep grazing outside.

One thing that I loved about the day was how much we learned about wine. Never having appreciated wine before, I used to feel like the wine list in restaurants was a bunch of gibberish. Now, I know what I'm reading and can select what wine would go best with my meal. Such an eye-opening day!

We enjoyed some time in the pool after our tour, and relaxed before it was time for dinner.

 Someone forgot her flip-flops, lol.

We had a fabulous meal at Fresno Restaurant in East Hampton. If you follow the directions, it's tucked away in the middle of a residential area. Small and intimate, there was great wine, lovely atmosphere, and delicious food. We enjoyed a wonderful evening.

I think we got back to the hotel around midnight (dinner was at 9:30), and we slept in- a luxury for busy women like us, lol! We had a really nice brunch at the Riverhead Project. Contemporary and eclectic, this new restaurant is a hidden gem. We sat on cozy couches, right next to their fireplace.

Water was served in pretty bottles- one bottle each of still and sparkling water, complimentary. You know we asked (in a roundabout way) before opening the bottles, lol!

Eggs in purgatory, with chorizo in a spicy tomato sauce- delicious! The Corn and Blueberry hot cakes were heavenly as well.

All in all, I would visit every site over again. Can't wait to return, especially since I'm fresh out of my Winter White ;)

Serenade of the Seas Review Part 8- Departure and Post-Cruise

Our last morning on the ship was a leisurely one. Since we were headed to a hotel instead of the airport, we had to luxury of taking our time. I think we went to breakfast around 8:30 or so. No room service is given this morning, so we had to go to the Windjammer.

Serenade of the Seas Review Part 7-Curacao and Day at Sea

And last but not least- Curacao! This was our anniversary day, so we didn’t really have anything planned. We slept in a bit and had breakfast in our room. Here were the first views we had of the port, from the elevator bank:
